Building the next generation of global food brands out of India

Good food brings people together and the food we eat says a lot about us. Founded in Mumbai in May 2020, Nino Foods is focused on building the next generation of global food brands. At Nino, we believe Food delivery in India is about more than Biryani. We thought we’d put our money where our mouth is.

The first step in our journey was acquiring the 8 year-old Francesco’s Pizzeria- the best thin crust pizza in Mumbai. Over the last 4 months we’ve grown revenue by 3x with less than 5% marketing spend. Operational changes and insights from our friends at Swiggy & Zomato have helped us achieve this. We’re EBITDA positive with new locations breaking even in <45 days. We are growing with exciting speed and expect everyone in Mumbai to be within reach of a slice of Francesco’s by the end of next year.

Our second step is building a brand from scratch: Nino Burgers- Premium burgers for every mood. We believe Burgers are the next food form to skyrocket in India. Burger King’s stellar IPO and Wendy’s planned entry into India across 250 outlets via Rebel is encouraging. Customer feedback from food trials has us excited and anxious about the launch this week. Nino’s Shroom burger in particular, is one for the Shake Shack fans.

Operating a delivery-only model with brands sharing infrastructure and manpower keeps our costs low. We double down on cooking mouthwatering food and having a seamless customer experience.

To take personalisation to a new level at Francesco’s, we launched Custom Pizzas — In the shape of Alphabets, Numbers & Symbols. We’re on a mission to convert birthday cakes into birthday pizza shapes— one party at a time. Custom Pizzas have delighted > 700 customers in 2 months and and allowed us to be a part of countless special moments (including one marriage proposal!).

Over the last 5 months we learnt that we’re resourceful, good at identifying talent, and have an insatiable hunger to build the most exciting food company in India. We’re currently a team of 17 & are on the lookout for young, driven people who are high on ambition & low on ego, and enjoy pushing their boundaries.
